Training for Foster Parents
Becoming a foster parent with Ariel includes an initial training sequence before a child is placed in your home. State regulations require foster parents to complete 20 hours of training per year, including hours focused on cultural responsiveness and trauma-informed care. Ariel helps you meet those requirements and stay current throughout your time as a licensed provider.
Initial training topics include:
- Foster parent orientation, covering Ariel’s policies and procedures, state rules and regulations, and your role in the child welfare system
- Trauma-informed care
- Cultural responsiveness
- CPR and First Aid
- Safe home and supervision practices
If you’ve completed any of these trainings through another agency or on your own, let your Ariel contact know — some certifications may be transferable.
